Nature Photo's Reflection
My photos embody the theme of nature because they are pictures taken outside. They are objects taken in their natural places in nature. For the first picture of the orange flowers I used the technique of natural lines. All of the petals around the surrounding flowers all point to the flower in the center that is the most in focus. The other picture of the flowers I also used natural lines. They all point to the most in-focus part of the picture. For the other three pictures, the two mushroom pictures and the pine needle picture, I used the rule of negative space. The surrounding area really brings out the subject in the middle of the picture. Depending on how in focus and how bright I wanted my subject I changed my depth-of-field and my aperture settings. I think my series of pictures, overall, came out good. I feel that I had the right lighting and focus on my pictures that not to much was going on, but also enough to keep it interesting. I do feel that I can improve on my subject placement in the picture though. I am happy with how my pictures came out.

Portrait's Reflection
A portrait is a picture of a person that is either posed or unposed. It can depict their whole body but more often just a close up picture of their shoulders and above. My pictures depict the definition because they are all pretty much shot from the torso and up. In my first picture my portrait shows the viewer how happy the people are in the picture. It is a posed picture because I wanted a nice picture where all three of the people were happy and smiling. My second picture is unposed and she was just joking around when I shot this. She was trying to catch rain on her tongue and this is a candid of her. My third photo is a posed picture of my grandmother. This not only shows the viewer that my grandmother is happy but also shows how nice the fall day behind her is. It really makes her stand out in the front. The fourth picture is unposed and shows my friend in thought. I thought that this would be a cool picture because the light was shining on her face and it gave her a cool shadow. My fifth picture is posed. There was no point to it but I liked the background and it matched with what she was wearing so it gave the whole picture a good and patriotic vibe. In conclusion I am satisfied with my pictures but I think I could improve on the lighting in my pictures and also the background. I struggled at what time of day was a good time to take a picture and I think I could also make my backgrounds either more interesting or more blank to really bring our the figure in the picture. These are my five portraits above.

Motion Pictures
Motion photos reflection
My first picture shows my friends waving their arms around. I used a fast shutter speed to freeze their action. I tried to use a little slower shutter speed to try to get their hands to look more blurred and kind of panned. I edited the photo by adjusting the color to make it brighter and I also cropped out the negative space. This image shows the fun times I have with my friends. In the second picture shows the same two people jumping and running. |
I also used a fast shutter speed for this picture. I sharpened this picture a little and also made it brighter. This one, they did not jump at the same time so that is why the one in front is caught landing from the jump. The third picture is a lot like the first and I did the same editing to it. In the fourth picture I feel this is my best one. I used a fast shutter speed and got them jumping at the exact same time. I cropped this so I could center them and also brightened the image. In the last image I also used a fast shutter speed to get her mid swing. I like the fact that her hair is raised up a little to really emphasize the motion. I made this black and white because I thought it looked better cause the background was kind of boring. Overall I think my pictures came out well but I think I could improve on either blurring them more making them more clear with a faster shutter speed. I could also improve on my timing. I am happy with the way my first motion pictures came out.
Abstract
My first picture is a picture of grass. I used the technique of rhythm and line to make the picture more interesting. In Photoshop I edited the brightness and contrast to really define the lines. The second picture is a picture of a squash. I used a very slow shutter speed and a shallow depth of field to really bring out the tip of the squash. I used to the technique of rule of thirds. The third picture is of lichen on a rock. I really strengthened the contrast on this picture to really make the little individual pores and details of the lichen really stand out. I had a wider depth of field so that you could see all of the lichen in focus. The fourth picture is a picture of some old lacrosse net. I used a very shallow depth of field to have the net stand out in front of the blurry background. I also used the composition technique of rhythm. This is my favorite picture because the bright colors in the back really contrast against the white net making it stand out a lot. The fifth picture was taken looking up at a tree. I also used a very shallow depth of field here to make the tree stand out against the sky. I brightened the picture to make the bark more interesting to look at as well. The photographer Fenton, kind of reminds me as a photographer. He takes simple but at the same time very meaningful pictures. Overall, I am happy with the way that my pictures came out and one thing that I could probably improve on would be just taking pictures with more definition in them so that they really pop. Above are my top five abstract pictures.
Self Portrait Reflection
This self portrait that I have created represents me in a few different ways. The first picture in the top left corner is a picture of a daisy. A daisy is my favorite flower and I put it because I feel that it represents my kindness and simplness. I am not a very tough person to read and neither is this flower. The second picture is a picture of spagetti and meatballs. This picture has two meanings for me. The first one is that I love food. Spagetti and meatballs so I thought that it was suiting to put it in my self portrait. The second meaning is because I got this plate of food at Via Napoli in Epcot. Epcot is a place where I go with my family and we always go to this restaurant to eat. This picture does not just symbolize food but family as well. My last picture in the bottom right corner is my cat. She means so much to me and I love her very much. I put her in my self portrait because she is a big part of my life. She is friendly and loving, a lot like me. For the background I used an evening picture of the sky so there would be nothing overwhelming in the background. This works well as negative space so you can really focus on the pictures in the front. I think that my composition came out well but I do need to work on my Photoshop editing skills. I think next time I could blend the subjects into the picture and make cleaner lines. Overall I think this picture symbolizes me well.
